Sharing – Android vs iOS

Hey guys, our client would like to make better use of the share function, but has noticed there's quite the difference between the two operating systems.

iOS shares the name of the article, the issue name, a link to download and a thumbnail for both twitter and Facebook, while Android just shares the article name, the brand ID and a thumbnail for twitter, and for Facebook it just shares an image.

See the screenshots below:

Can anyone advise as to why this is the case so I can go back to my client with a concise answer? Or maybe even a solution so that the two systems work the same way.

Many thanks

Hello Richard,

Though the iOS and Android platforms are developed differently and sometimes the way we're able to add certain smaller preset functions like this will not work, we do try to match features and functionality as best we can. However, in this case there may be a specific reason why it was not included for Android but I will have to check with our development team and get back to you.

Hello Richard,

The feedback from our development team is this:

We do add text to our share intent, but it's up to the app receiving the intent to handle it.
Facebook has decided to not properly handle intents, https://developers.facebook.com/bugs/332619626816423.

The text we share is just vertical_name, brand, and release_date as defined in the issue.xml. We may be able to look into it more and improve this but this would need to be submitted to our Community Ideas forum. You can do that here:

Everything posted in this forum is monitored and sent to our development team where each request is assessed for potentially being developed in a future release.

Thanks for the reply, that's most helpful, especially as it's something concrete to go back to our client with
