Short story: Is there any way of doing what my attached illustration shows?
From what I've tried there is no way to use Magplus for playing only a part of a video, like having it start from 20 seconds and play to the end. But I would be very glad if someone can tell me I'm wrong.
The workaround I'm trying is to instead use an HTML-object inserted, in which I can control the playhead, but then the problem seems to be that there is no way to start a video AND make it full screen at the same time. As I understand it this is fully intentional from Apple. You need one click to start playing the video, after that you can let the user click a second time (on a specific button) to invoke full screen. But there seems to be no way to let the user click on a play-button and start the movie in full screen directly.
Again, if someone knows how to do this I would be very happy. I've searched the web and tried lots of code but on the iPad nothing seems to work unless the user clicks two times.
(In Magplus, if you start a video, it's easy to let it start in fullscreen, but I guess that's because Apple then knows it's done in a proper way, while from an HTML-page you could mess the user experience up.)
Does anyone have an idea how I can make this work?
Possible workarounds that I thought of but not like:
1) Divide the full length video into pieces. Problem: The user has to manually start the next piece which will become irritating since there are lots of small video-pieces.
2) Dividing the full length video into overlapping pieces (1: from 0:00 to 3:00, 2: from 1:30 to 3:00 ....). Problem: size of app will expand by 3x to 6x in this project.
3) Magplus playlists would work but they are only usable for audio.
4) External videoplayer like JW player embedded in my code? I don't think this will make any change – still play and fullscreen needs to be a 2-step if invoked from a webpage.
