Proper Sorting... EVERYWHERE

I don't mean to be rude, but it completely astounds me that filenames are not properly sorted in EVERY location they are used within Mag+ family of products. Hooray for Production Tool *finally* allowing us to sort items on its Clipboard. However, one other place that should list filenames in a sensible order is the Mag+ Folder export (v1.0.1) window. It's really frustrating to see these types of oversights. Simply put, ANYWHERE multiple files are being listed, they should be sorted in some sensible order.

Hi -

The files there are listed by alphabetical order, so there is already a sorting applied to them. We'll see if we can add sorting the other direction as well - the folder export script is still in beta, so it's a work in progress. Thanks for the feedback.

Hello, thanks for your response. I should have attached screen captures to prove that in fact the filenames are NOT sorted. So I have attached two images of what I am experiencing. The first, "NotSorted-1.png", shows what the very top of the listbox is displaying, and the second shows how the listing continues out-of-order. You will see the filename "141_Pg83.indd" present in both screen captures to prove how these filenames are being "ordered".

Why aren't the column headings clickable for sorting in ascending/descending order? If I had access to the source of the script I could *easily* fix the problem myself. Also just out of curiosity I could examine what logic is being applied to result in the "ordering" depicted in my screen captures.

Oh and I wanted to specifically point out how, in the second screen capture, the filenames progress in this order:

141_Pg90.indd

141_Pg08.indd

141_Pg09.indd

141_Pg01.indd

Not to beat a dead horse, but I don't believe for one second those are in "alphabetical" order.

While we're here, I'd like to add a couple comments about "The Folder Export Script" page on the Mag+ Support site:

http://support.magplus.com/entries/21851682

Quote: "This is a v1.0 of this script and we are eager to improve it. Please let us know in the comments below if you find any bugs or have any suggestions for it. If you know JavaScript, you can also feel free to open the script file and modify it as you like and save a new script to you folder."

Firstly, this script is largely unchanged in approximately 10 months. To me that suggest nobody at Mag+ is "eager" to improve it.

Secondly, the script is in ".jsxbin" format, so no amount of Javascript knowledge is going to make editing it possible. The following is the first line of "code" I see when I right-click the script and choose "Edit Script":

@JSXBIN@ES@2.0@MyBbyBnATMLbyBn0ASJNnASzRjQjSjPjHjSjFjTjTiCjBjSiXjJjOjEjPjXBAEjzG

Lastly, the comments area for that page says "Topic is closed for comments". Quite pointless to say then, "Please let us know in the comments below..."

Please, Mag+, hire me as a part-time consultant to help you out with some of the things you have been neglecting. You would find out that I am very thorough and that I can improve your platform as a whole in several ways. I don't understand why your product is so good in many ways, and so lacking in others.

Hi Al -

I'm getting more information from our plug-in developer and will get back to you shortly.

I've also re-opened that article for comments—the default is "closed" and I didn't notice that when I put up the article - thanks for pointing it out.

Hi Al -

Wanted to let you know we have not forgotten this thread. We're going to add sorting to the next release of the script coming this summer. As soon as I have a better ETA, I'll ping you back here.
