Managing load position for pages of a vertical

Hi Guys,

I'm working on a new concept for a magazine. In this concept we want to let the user wander (with a bit of guidance) trough the magazine in different directions, left, right, down and... up.

For the "up" part I have a question:

While swiping trough the verticals, is it possible to start a vertical automatically at page 2 of the vertical? So the user can choose to go "up" to a new page?

I've notticed that when you ga to a second page of a vertical, swipe to a new vertical and then go back, you come back at that second page. So that gives me hope that there is somekind of load position for pages of a vertical that can be managed.

With kind regards,

Chris Pelk

Hey Chris -

Great question. What you're seeing now is that the app remembers last position for a vertical but only in the temporary memory. If you swipe more than two pages ahead and then go back, it resets. So there's no real way to designate that ahead of time.

In the next release (due out Feb 12), we are introducing the ability to disable left and right swipe (and scrubber) in an issue—the idea being that you can control the users' navigation around an "issue" using only jump links. That's one possible solution here - then it would be easy to have a link that took somebody not only to Vertical X, but also to Object Y in that vertical, where Object Y could be on the second slide and then they could swipe up and down on that vertical. Would that work?

Thanks Mike.

I'm looking forward testing that new option. Is it an idea to make a option for the A-layer, that you can give the A-layer the action that it end's on the same page. In that way you when you go to the following page the A and B layer comes up (in screen) simultaniously. I'm looking for a way, so it seems to the reader that he enters a new vertical when he swipes verticallly.

Cheers

Hey Chris -

Sorry, I'm not following the idea here to have the A layer actions end on the same page. Are you talking about syncing up the A and B layer?

Sorry Mike, I know it sounds a bit confusing. I'm gonna try to explain it better:

Now when you scroll/swipe from page 1 to page 2 (of the same vertical), you first get the content of the A-layer and shortly thereafter the B-layer appears. It would be great that if when you swipe from page 1 to page 2 the content of the A- and B-layer appears simultaniously. Exactly like what happens when you swipe from vertical to vertical.
