Jump Links inside Html

Hi Ronaldo,

We are looking into how to enable jump links from html. At the moment it is only possible to link to weblinks from html: http://support.magplus.com/entries/21042196

I'll move this thread to the Feature request forum so we can follow up on it.

Any update on this issue? It'd be really useful to be able to put jump links into HTML.

Hi - We're still looking at that, but it didn't make it into the release. For the next release, in a couple of months, we're looking to add a suite of features for improving pop-ups, including this one.

I've had a client ask me specifically about this today and I haven't used the latest versions of magplus so not sure if it has been implemented, is this possible with the latest version? (jump link from within a html element).

Sorry we did not update this thread but YES, it is possible now (as of 4.1). Just use the jump:// syntax as outlined below. You can also trigger popups the same way with the popup syntax://

jump:

Used for jump links within an issue, replaces the legacy specification violating “URLs” starting with a /.

The supported URL format is jump://<vertical>/<block-id>

Where <vertical> is one of:

• A vertical identifier, for a specific vertical.
• $current, $next, $previous, $last or $first, for a relative vertical.

And <block-id>* is optional:

*

• A block identifier for a specific target.
• $top or $bottom for a relative target. Available from 4.1

The  jump://<vertical>/<block-id> does not work correctly when the HTML file is placed on a vertical that is more than 1 vertical away from the target vertical (eg not next or previous).

It will only load the first <vertical> command, but will not go and find the <block-id> if that appears on a page found within the target vertical.

I tested this on a fresh load, it will only work if you have visited or loaded the target page before clicking the HTML jumplink.

Is this meant to work that way, as i have 5 verticals, but the html will not route to the correct blockid, only to the top of the vertical.

The problem you're running into is that in the 5.0 app, jump links can no longer go to the block level, only the vertical level. That's something we're working on bringing back, but I don't have a timeframe right now. Will update here as soon as we do.

Thanks, but how would you suggest I display 950+ links using Mag+ in built system.Thats why i was using the HTML as it's easy to generate and 1 HTML did not burden the App.

Now i have to create 950+ links in indesign with button/linking support.

Hey Alex - 

Sorry for the confusion: There's no difference in the jump link schema whether you're placing the link in HTML or in InDesign, so you can still use your HTML route.

And I realized looking back through some documentation that I might have misspoke - I think you should still be able to go to the block level on a link. Let me confer with the rest of the support team and devs and get back to you.

Hey Alex - Just confirmed with the team that you should be able to do a  _jump://<vertical>/<block-id> _jump link within an HTML file. We'll take a look at your files when you send them through and see why that isn't working in this case.
