Web Viewer

Hi.

I was talking with my clients and some of them requested a Web Browser Viewer. Currently, both Adobe DPS and Aquafadas are offering this possibility, and as MAG+ is "Image Based", I think it's quite easy to create an HTML5 reader so that our publications can be made available for everyone on the Internet.

Hi Carlos -

yes, that's something we're looking at, but one of the differences between Mag+ and DPS or Aquafadas is that we have a more complex architecture to the system where those are more flat sorts of systems - dual layouts with pinning, multiple layers, etc - so when you have those sorts of interactions going on, it becomes a bit trickier to replicate in a basic web viewer. But it's something we'd like to create in the future if our clients will find it useful.

Hi Mike

Thanks for your answer. When I moved to Mag+ after testing it in Beta, as well publishing with Adobe DPS and Aquafadas, I said that I moved from a Conventional Framework to a Creative one. Your system is probably the best one around and one of the most interesting features of Mag+ is the A-Layer architecture and Pinning. The fact that we can publish in iPad, Android and Kindle fire, as well iPhone in the near future is fantastic, but can't you make a simpler version of it as Web Viewer? I think that your developers can findi a way to convert all that content into Floating DIVs…

Hey Michael -

On the Web viewer, it is possible to render most of a mib in all its possible iterations in a Web view, but it's no small task, nor is building the backend for it. We're looking into it, but we're also examining the various use cases - one is to publish to the Web for users, but another would be as a review tool for the production teams making the MIBs. If the idea was to support the former, we'd want to support multiple screen sizes so that you could do what we always encourage with Mag+: design for the canvas(es) the content will be viewed on, rather than try to shoehorn one design into another space. Either way, I anticipate some progress in one of these directions by year end.

For Windows 8, we have spoken to Microsoft and begun investigating. Our approach to any new OS or device is to go where the market goes - if (or when) that space starts to get some traction with consumers, we'll look at doing a Windows 8 compatible reader. Before that, we're prioritizing our upcoming iPhone and Android mobile releases (Sept), given the large size of that market. Thanks as always for the feedback!

Hi Robert -

Sorry, nothing immediate to report. It's something we're still looking at, but have no concrete plans on the roadmap at this time. Our business has always been built around custom design for touchscreen devices and that's where we're trying to concentrate our resources for now.

Hi Mike

I was wondering if there are any recent plans for a web viewer feature for Mag+

The reason I ask is that it would be greta of offer both clients and readers the magazine content online as well as on table and mobile devices.

The same question Mike. We have a lot of uses on PC and Windows Phone.

To support the we need at least web version. When we subscribed a contract with Mag+ -- sales representatives said that the web version will be ready in Q4 2014/Q1 2015.

Could you please provide/clarify any progress on this?

Thanks in advance.
