German Plugin Translation illegible

Hi,

in the german Version of your InDesign Plugin in every tab some labels are either missing or illegible because the Text is squeezed in there with negative spacing (for no obvious reason). Resizing the Plugin Window doesn't change that.

Any chance this will look better with the next update?

Thanks!

Hannah

Hello Hannah,

This could be related to having duplicate system fonts activated.  Do you use a Font Management application?  If so, check to see if you have any duplicates active and deactivate some, then relaunch InDesign to see if that clears it up at all.

Hello Mike,

thank you for this hint. I checked my local fonts and server fonts but did not find any duplicates. Can you tell me which fonts are used in the plugin so i can check precisely that font?

Cheers,

Hannah

Hannah,

I've received some feedback from our Plugin developer.  He says that because our plugin is Flash-based, Flash is automatically adjusting the spacing due to the text not fitting in the frame so it is actually using the correct font after all.  This is something he was already aware of happening and in the 5.1 release we are removing the German translation altogether because the text strings are too long.

Mike,

thanks for the quick reply. Bad german language.. too many words for simple things.

Nevertheless I would like to voice my feature request:

The handling of the indesign plugin itself feels a bit awkward (probably because it is flash). For example you cannot easily copy and paste field contents (shortcuts for selection don't work, no "undo" that is immediately visible without switching tabs) but most importantly the drop down lists are very short even though there is enough space on my screen to show the whole list. This can be very annoying if for example I set jumplinks and want to select one of many pages in my issue because I have to click-scroll very long. This sums up if you do this at once for all pages. Which is why typing the links by hand is easier but of course prone to errors.

This is just to give you a feedback. I think it would make using the InDesign plugin more fun :)

Best regards,

Hannah
