Hello,

I have some questions about hosting MIB file on my own server, please answer follow questions:

  • How clients connect to download file on my server, via mag+ first or just connect directly to file on my server?

  • If user connect directly to download that file, how can I protect from another one who not subscribe that know the URL ?

Thank you.

Hi Nakarin,

See my answers below:

- How clients connect to download file on my server, via mag+ first or just connect directly to file on my server?

When a user decides to download an issue the app will contact Mag+ Publish, Mag+ Publish will then send back the URL for the file to the app and the app will then download the file directly from your server.

- If user connect directly to download that file, how can I protect from another one who not subscribe that know the URL ?

You can use Secure URLs: "If you host your issues with Mag+, you now have the option to use secure URLs. That means the URL to the MIB file will expire after one hour and a new URL will be generated. This is an option that you need to request from your sales rep or by emailing  sales@magplus.com."

Anders

Hi Anders,

Thank you for the information.  If Mag+ send back the URL to app and app will then download directly to my server it mean that all traffics will come from subscribers not from Mag+, is this correct ? And Secure URLs is the service that only provide by Mag+, is this correct?

Thank you

Hi Nakarin,

Yes, as you say the traffic will only be between the subscribers and your server. Mag+ Publish will validate the MIB the first time you give the URL to the MIB, so at that point Mag+ Publish will download parts of the MIB from your server.

Regarding the Secure URLs I realised I was a bit unclear, at the moment we only support this when you host your MIB files using our servers.

Hi,

I have one more question on this case. If we host on my own site, can I do the link look like landing page to put a script to check that subscriber access from mobile device or not? Same with all IOS app that need to download via itunes.

Nakarin
