Update MIB files in a published issue

Hi,

I published an issue yesterday, however, I had missed the fact that the MIB files for iPad 2 and iPad Retina need to have identical GUIDs and different version numbers. The files I uploaded were called "GT.GT2.8" (iPad 2) and "GT.GT2_Retina.12" (Retina). I didn't have a problem with the upload though, despite the fact that the GUIDs of the files were different.

Now to the problem: a few details needed changing in the MIB files, so I want to upload two new ones. When I try to upload a MIB file for Retina named "GT.GT2.13" I get the following error message: Validation failed: Guid base expected GUID-base to be ["GT.GT2_Retina"] but got GT.GT2.

I can't manually change the GUID of the Retina MIB to "GT2_Retina" instead of "GT2" in the Production Tool (and anyway, the GUIDs for iPad 2 and Retina  should be kept as "GT2" so that they are the same). But since Mag+ Publish won't let me replace the faulty MIB ("GT.GT2_Retina.12") with the new correct one ("GT.GT2.13") I'm wondering where I should go from here. Since the issue can't be deleted, am I stuck with the faulty MIB files?

Any help is very much appreciated!

Thanks,

Marina

Anders, thank you for your quick reply!

I have tried to manually change the GUID, but it won't let me add the word "Retina" for some reason, just alter the version number. I suppose that I could go into the issue.xtml file and change the GUID there.

What confuses me is that Mag+ Publish accepted my MIB files that were uploaded yesterday even though they have different GUIDs. In order to change the existing MIB files for a published issue - if I understood it correctly - the GUIDs for the new MIB files have to be exactly identical to the existing ones. So would I then need to upload two new MIBs with different GUIDs?

Thanks again.

Hi Marina,

I can see that you were able to upload the MIB files now. If you are updating a MIB it must have the same GUID base as the previous MIB that was uploaded for that version (for example, iPad Retina).

Hi

I have the same problem.

So is it OK to have two different GUID names for retina and for ipad in the same issue? Will it work correctly? Can you confirm please?

Yes, it will work Jarek. The first mib that you upload for that version will set the GUID requirements. So, if you upload a MIB for iPad Std all other MIBs for iPad Std that you upload for that issue must use the same GUID.

It's good to know until next time that the GUID base for iPad Std and Retina don't have to be exactly the same. Many thanks for your help.

Hello,

I have update a new MIB file, with the same GUID, but I increased the number to replace the old one. The one MIB file that is published right now has a 16 on the end. The new updated MIB file has a 17 on the end.  Under the listing for all of the MIB files that I have uploaded, it has changed the number from 17 to 10. Aslo * use this version, is still selected on an earlier uploaded version. Also, in my apps panel, in magplus publish, the listing for the iPhone 5, lists the most recent

MIB file that I uploaded. I am assuming that the 10, will not be the "live" one because it is the lesser of the number. Why did the upload change the number of my document? What can I do to ensure that the right file will be uploaded?

Thanks!

Hello,

The GUID version number at the end of your file does not necessarily drive the order/hierarchy of your MIB files, this is just a unique identifier that can be manually adjusted to any range of numbers as long as it is not already being used.  It may be that just renamed your MIB file rather than manually renaming the GUID internally (within the file).  However if the latest MIB you uploaded is still the correct, new MIB then you should be fine as long as you did not receive any errors.

If you need to rename your GUID properly again in the future you can follow these instructions below, but this can also be done before you export from the Production Tool by clicking in the GUID field and manually changing it there.
