Unify two verticals

Hello! I have a problem unifying my 2 verticals. I did this tutorial: http://support.magplus.com/entries/20817126-unify-two-or-more-verticals-create-a-spread

I have done this before and the difference now is that the verticals are not unifyed together, but just placed closely together as 2 verticals and not as 1 large vertical. Have I maybe forgotten how it works?

Kind regards, Fredrik

Hi Fredrik,

Have you reviewed the verticals together on the iPad?

Also, make sure that "Compact verticals in portrait" is set to of in the Mag+ Reviewer.

Yes, I have reviewed the verticals together on the iPad.

The "Compact verticals in portrait" is set to off in the Mag+ Reviewer.

Is it possible for you to send us a screenshot from your iPad with the page scrubber at the bottom open so it is possible to see the thumbnails. And then also a mib if possible.

Hi Fredrik,

I had a look at the files now and everything concerning vertical id etc looks fine. See attahced screenshot. One thing though that causing some problem is that some content is place on the popups-layer causing it not to be part of the thumbnail image.

Also, if you are not using the A-layer I recommend placing everything on the b-layers and then select "No A-layer" in the plugin.

Here is some articles on the basics regarding the plugin and also the layers: http://support.magplus.com/forums/20235182

Anders

Yes I need to use the A layer, because when I rotate the ipad, I can scroll the page(since im not using html to resize on rotate).  Can you maybe move things correctly to the right layers for me and send the indesign files to me? Then I can tell you if things are the way I want them to be?

Kind regards, Fredrik

I have now deleted my popups and my verticals still dont unify, so that cant be the issue here.

I need the A layer to scroll the page when I rotate.

I'd like to offer a clarification... in the very first comment, I believe Anders mistyped the word "on" as "of". I was seeing the same results as the original poster, in my own attempts to unify verticals as spreads. Once I changed the Mag+ Reviewer "Compact Verticals" setting to "on", my spreads were displaying properly.

Almost properly, that is... my thumbnails at the bottom still show a gap between the verticals I've unified. It doesn't look like the screen capture in the 11/19/12@09:24 post.

Fredrik, In your screenshots that you have sent the verticals are unified as the screenshot I sent you, the problem is that some of the content is placed on the Ap- popup layer. Move all the content to the A-main tower layer and you will see it in the thumbnails as well.

Are you sure you changed the compact vertical setting in the Reviewer as Al described?

Yes, I have. In the 2 last videos I have move everything to the right layers as you told me and did what Al told me. The result is in the videos.

Hello, have you given up on my problem? I made another vertical with no numbering, and it seems to me that the 2 two other verticals that I want to unify, doesn't make any difference. They end up like if I didn't give them any numbering at all. I also tried unifyng a random image, with same results as before. To me it seems that there is something wrong with production tool(or mabye a bug?!). I have actually done this before, and that's why this seems so wierd to me that I can't get this to work...

Hej Fredrik,

The unifying works in your case. This unifying feature connects the two verticals and also provides a seamless transfer when scrolling horizontally between the verticals. Let me know what you are trying to achieve and I will try to help you out. If you compare the verticals in the page scrubber you can see that the verticals are unified while regular verticals have a space between them.

Okay, I can see what you are saying.

What I want is that when you scroll between the two verticals that are unified, is that the verticalls actually are glued together as one large image. If I rotate the iPad to landscape, and then scroll horizontally to get to the end of the page,  then scroll verticallly from  1 to page 2. I should then be in the bottom of page 2 as well without having to scroll down the page again. Understand?

Ahaa, now I understand. That is unfortunately not possible, the verticals will have separate vertical scrolls. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

At the moment it is not on the roadmap but we might be able to put such a feature in in the future.
