Having Remote Review Problems

I am trying to remote review an mib. I have created an mib using the Producer tools and have added the file to dropbox. I then copied the public link folder to the "Local MIB Address" field in settings and have selected "Single MIB File" for my authoring server.

Now when I go to review i keep getting an error message telling me my downloads have been suspended. I'm not sure if this is because I am trying to view the mib from the same user account it was created in.

I have also had a friend try reviewing it by copying the dropbox link and so on. The mib appears to download but nothing loads on the screen.

Any help that could assist me in getting the remote review to work would be greatly appreciated.

I'm having the same problems, and because the Dropbox method actually has fewer, more self contained steps... it's actually much simpler.

Is there actually a solution to remote review with Dropbox instead of having to use a different method?

Hi Jim,

The dropbox method should work as long as the url entered for the mib is public and for a MIB file. We haven't been able to find any problems with remote review method using Dropbox at the moment.

Best regards,

Hi Anders, thanks for the reply.

It seems this is actually a Dropbox error being pushed through to my iPad. I'm not sure how, but it has suspended my public links.

Will this work with another similar service such as the one YouSendIt has that is very similar to Dropbox?

Also, I have my own webserver... is there a way to put it on my own server and provide a link, or is this a Dropbox only kind of thing?

Thanks for your help.

Actually, I might be wrong about that. If it were Dropbox, I would have gotten an email about it but I didn't. And I just tried a YouSendIt link and it gave me the same error.

Are there any circumstances where Mag+ suspends downloads?

Something weird is going on...

Hi Jim,

It is possible to place the mib on your own web server and then provide a url directly to that file as you do using Dropbox.

Mag+ shouldn't suspend downloads, as long as the link is public and to a MIB file it should work.

I have the same problem. I've tried both dropbox and my private server with no shortlinks and it still does not work.

Hi, im having similar problems with the make miblist function in Dropbox. I can do the 'Dirty' method, but have a client i want to proof via the review button in the ipad viewer. the instructions are for Mac, i work in windows and so how do i get the function to start when i place a mib in the public folder?

Hi Chris,

You should be able to double click the script included in the folder and it should update the miblisting.

Is there resolution using the Dropbox method.  I am trying to review a MIB for a magazine and I can recognize the MIB but it causes the Reviewer App to crash each time.  The should be an easy step, but it is bugged down at the moment.  Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi Chaps having a similar problem on iPad 1 not 2 or 3, just 1 Is this a reviewer problem base on the version and the firmware support on iPad 1.?

Hi Marl,

We haven't seen any problems in using iPad1 with the Reviewer so that shouldn't be the problem. Are you able to push to the Reviewer using InDesign?

index.php seems to load correctly in browser:

{"payload":[],"status":"ok","url":"http:\/\/xxxxxxx.com\/review\/"}

I had a "problem" for a minute until I realized the server that I was hosting my file on didn't serve the .mib mimetype. If you're hosting this file yourself, you have to add that extension ".mib" and the mimetype "application/octet-stream".

i have uploaded my mib file to the public dropbox - I had to create a new brand ID and I am not sure if that is the reason why the MIB file will not open in the reviewer once downloaded from the dropbox. What else I can do? I am simply a designer using the tool and the references made above with regards to adding code make no sense to me. See example below - please help!

{"payload":[],"status":"ok","url":"http:\/\/xxxxxxx.com\/review\/"}
