UPDATE (6/3/2014): Mag+ has implemented further improvements to the iOS app in order to better ensure delivery of Newsstand push notifications and auto-downloading of content. Mag+ recommends that customers with iOS Newsstand apps rebuild their apps with the 5.1.2 iOS release to take advantage of these improvements.
Note: Auto-downloads of Newsstand app content are initiated via a push notification. Apple defines a specific set of conditions to allow background downloading of content, including how much battery-life the device has, its network connection, whether an app has sent a download notification within the last 24 hours, etc. A specific condition is that an app has not been manually terminated by the user. For more information on how auto-downloading of content works, please refer to "iOS - Automatic Downloading of App Content".
UPDATE (4/25/2014): A bug was discovered in some Mag+ iOS apps that affected a subscriber's automatic downloads for issues published between February 24, 2014 and April 16, 2014. As a result, some issues that should have been auto-downloaded by your iOS apps were not. Note that the issues were always available for users to download manually; they simply did not automatically download to the device.
Mag+ has made an update to our services to address this for all issues published after April 16, 2014 which has re-triggered auto-downloads for back issues. As a result, you may see an increase in download counts for issues published between February 24, 2014 and April 16, 2014. The fix prevents problems with issues published after this date.
Note that you do not need to rebuild your app at this time. If you have further questions on this issue, please do not hesitate to post to our User forums or submit a support ticket via the support home page (once you have logged in).
We also recently discovered that some of our customers' Android apps were reporting incorrect issue download counts.
As this is a potentially serious issue, Mag+ released an update for our Android app code. Android apps built between March 4, 2014 (version 5.0.2) and April 3, 2014 (version 5.0.4) should be rebuilt in the Mag+ Publish Portal and resubmitted to Google Play or the Amazon Marketplace in order to correct the problem. Apps rebuilt after April 3, 2014 report accurate issue downloads.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
